Welcome to my cosy corner of the world. Grab a cuppa, pull up a comfy chair and join me.
To set the scene, I am writing from sunny Brisbane, Australia. I arrived here in early March, just before the initial COVID-19 shutdown (that’s a whole other story).
Some fast facts…My schooling was completely Steiner-based schooling. What’s that? Give it a google. This allowed me to explore and engage my creativity, including my love of writing.
My passion for people and social justice led me to study Social Work. I’ve been a practising social worker for 10 years, and am currently in private practice.
I’m a keen fan of coffee, vegan cakes, and funny cat videos.
And, I write.
My love of words started young. I voraciously devoured book after book…and even the words on the milk carton whilst eating breakfast…I just loved to be wrapped up in the different worlds that words create…and not much has changed.
As soon as I could write, I poured my ideas onto the page…poems, stories, and letters to friends and pen pals…who remembers those great Guiness World Record chain letters?
But…there was a very loud voice that said, ‘Okay you like to dabble in writing, but you won’t get anywhere with it in the real world!’
For a long time I barely wrote, and no longer whipped through 3 books before lunch. (Who wants to do extra reading at uni right?)
Well, fast forward some years, and one global pandemic later, and bam! Something about this time of confusion and the slower pace of life, reignited space and connection to these passions.
Another driving force was a strong need to spend time using my mind in different ways to the therapy room of my day job.
And here we are…a hop, skip and grateful jump back into the world of words.
And I’m sure glad to be back!
This time my focus is different…rather than poems and stories, I spend my days working on creative and impactful content and copy, for conscious values-led businesses.
And it is the soul-food I have been missing. Writing puts the sparkle in my day.
If you’re reading this, I am so happy to meet you and I would love to hear about you and your story, and what brought you to read my blog today?
Have a beautiful day
